Gandhak Ki Baoli: It is the biggest Baoli in Delhi. The Gandhak Baoli is one of the famous Baoli. The Bali’s location is T22/8 near the water tank Firdausi Masjid Ward no 8 Mehrauli Village, New Delhi 110030. Samshu-din- iltutamish built it in 1211-36. There comes a smell of sulfur therefore it is called Gandhak Ki Baoli maybe. It is 100 meters far from Adham Khan. Baoli is a good source of Baoli. Because there was no motor and electricity so Baoli and wells were built. This Baoli has five floors and it is a wonderful Baoli. It is said that bathing in it can treat boils and pimples. There are water of 2-3 feet minimum.

Architecture

The Baoli is on 200 acres of land. It has a simple architecture. But it looks very good. It is made of stone and lime and the Baoli has a rectangular shape. A well is there on the east side cylindrical in shape. As there are stairs to go to Baoli like others. There is space to burn the torch in the well. Except for it, there is a place to sit pigeons.

This monument comes under the purview of the archaeological survey of India but bad luck is that it is not maintained well there is dirt in Baoli water. On the upper floor, there are an arch and porch. It is also called.

The Gandhak KiBaoli is built by Illtutamish for Saint Qutubddin Bakhtiyar for drinking and bathing purposes. ThisBaoli was completed in 1236. People try to go deep in Baoli and wish to bathe in it because its water treats pimples, so this is blind faith. It can be dangerous also. It is beside to Zahaj Mahal. Gandhak Ki Baoli is 800 years old and it is one of the alive and active Baoli. It is a big part of the network. There is no road around it. From ancient times it has been a place of holiday.

This Baoli opens from 10 Am to 5 Pm daily. There is no entry fees.

Place near Gandhak ki Baoli

Rajon Ki Baoli: This is 200 away from Gandhak ki Baoli. ThisBaoli was built in 1516 for court mechanics. They use it for drinking and daily work. Daulat Khan built this in the reign of Sikandar Lodhi and it has four floors. It has several rooms on the upper floor of Baoli.

Jahaz Mahal: It is a wonderful structure. It contains a lake in front of a structure in the water that looks reflection of Jahaz Mahal. This monument was built during 1453-1525. This is located at Talab Lane, Khandasa Colony Mehrauli Delhi – 110030.

Archeological Park: This is a very big park. There you get to see wonderful monuments like Jamali Kamali mosque, Kuli Khan tomb and horse stable etc. It is also in Mehrauli village, Delhi. In the park, there is a canteen and model light. It contains a flower garden of rectangular shape and a big lake. The lake has water fountains. This park looks like heaven.
