Introduction:
This is a tomb in which there are 64 beautiful pillars. I has an amazing ceiling and a reticulated wall. It is located in Nijamuddin New Delhi 110013. It is near Dargah of Nijamuddin Auliya and Mirja Galib Tomb. At the time of inauguration, Michel Steiner said: “The structural effect of Chausath khamba is a gift of the Muslim Community”. It has a rectangular shape and it is made of white marble. Chausath khamba tomb was made in Mughal architecture in the Mughal period of 1623-24. It was conservation in 2010. The project director AKTC said that because of the damaged roof, the rainwater collected in large amounts on the roof.
Architecture of Chausath Khamba:
This was a hall type and it was built in electric architectural styles in the Mughal period. And then later it was converted into a tomb. Chausath Khamba is in square shape. There is used white marble. The tomb has 64 columns that support twenty-five bays. There is also a grave of Ajeej Koka who was the foster brother of Akbar. It has a big garden and so much greenery around it.
History:
This tomb was built by Ajeej Koka in memory of his father, it was completed in 1624. There are graves of Ajeej Koka and Mirja Galib. Ajeej Koka was the son of female servant Anga who nourished Akbar and fed milk. He constructed chausath khamba for himself in the time of Jahangir.

- Atanga Khan was father of Ajeej Koka. As tomb is famous with the name of Chausath Khamba it has 25 parts and each part contains a dome on its top it can be seen only from the inside. The tomb’s roof is flat. And simple but it is heaven from the inside.
Entry fees and timing in Chausath khamba:
- There are no entry fees and its timing is 6 Am to 6 Pm. The tomb is open daily and you can spend here a minimum of 2 hours.
Interesting things about Chausath Khamba:
It’s a very beautiful white tomb. It is constructed of white marble and stone. It is famous for its wonderful domes and pillars. The ceiling design is very awesome. This kind of design you will not see in any other tomb and there are also some slogans which tell us the reality of life. And it made us remember a very promising king Ajeej Koka who was the son of a female servant.

There are transit line routes to go to Chausath Khamba tomb:
Bus: Bus no-101A, 410A, 410CL, 413, 418A, 418ASTL, 429,894, and 930.
Train: you can also take the train for it. Train number EMU 64014, EMU 64089, EMU 64902 go to chausath Khamba.
Metro: it nearest metro station is Jawaharlal Nehru, and from there on 16-minute walk there is the tomb of Chausath Khamba.
