This rail museum was inaugurated on 1 February 1977. Its area is 11 acre. The museum has an octagonal building in the indoor gallery. Entry Fees and Rules in Rail Museum
- The adult entry fee is 50 rupees on weekdays (working days) and 100 rupees on weekends and holidays.
- For children, the fee is 10 rupees on weekdays and at weekends 20 rupees.
- Schools and institutes will get a discount if they buy 30 tickets together.
- One thing that here camera is allowed but you have to pay 11,800. In this amount, you will buy a new LED.
Things to see in the rail museum
When you go to this museum, you will feel that you have come into a new world. The museum building is also very amazing. There are too many plants outside of the museum. There is small and big artwork of rail and water ships. There is artwork in this there is shown a running metro line, cars on the road and in the centre of the road and metro line, there is shown an image of a match auditorium. It looks like a city.

History Of The Rail Museum
- In 1962 first time a Transportation Museum was proposed, on the advice of Michael Graham.
- In 1970 this proposal took shape. And in 1971 on Chanakyapuri, the foundation stone was laid.
- The Museum was inaugurated in 1977 as the National Rail Museum by public transportation minister V.V Kamlapati Tripathi.
The museum aimed to be a part of a big museum which covers the history of road routes, waterways and airways. But it could not happen and in 1995 it was named the National Rail Museum.
Feature of Museum:
The rail museum is on 11 acres. This museum is wonderful. There are many trees and plants also. Except it, there is a big garden and in the garden, there is a big rail, on which children can sit.
This is the best place for children. By that, you can give your child information about vehicles and rail. That is how is rail and what is railway station. As there is a board on every station so this things also you can tell your child. It is helpful to children's brain growth.

- Metro: Nowadays, for travelling only in one city nothing is better than the metro. It drops to your destination in less time but here you have to pay something more. There is AC in the metro. Take the metro to Chanakyapuri.
Bus:  Many bus runs on the road all day. You can take the bus to Chanakyapuri or Service Rd. If you don’t get a bus from Chanakyapuri you can take a different bus which goes from the route of Chanakyapuri. You can search on Google or ask people for the bus.
