Rajghat: is in J6RX-6RR, behind Red Fort, in Delhi 110006. It is a memorial complex. The first memorial is of Mahatma Gandhi. There are graves of Mahatma Gandhi and Indira Gandhi. It has a huge garden. And there are magnificent model trees also. There is also a wonderful building. It is a fully green area and the best place for the tour. You can come here with family and friends. It is also a good place for school picnics. Children get to know about freedom fighters and leaders. On 31 January 1948, there was built a stage of black marble to mark the spot of his cremation.
Architecture of Rajghat
Vanu G Bhuta was the architect of the Rajghat structure. He rebuilt the Mandal pattern for the holy monument. Vanu G is an educated American architect. When you go there so you will see that the memorial is in the centre of a sunken rectangular courtyard. Rajghat is covered with high walls and it is made of red sandstone. There is a red colour on the gate for the entrance and there is also a framed picture of Mahatma Gandhi, there is written “MERA JEVAN MERA SANDESH” on it.
When you enter so you see a big walking area and in the middle way, you also get to see a pool cylindrical shape of the pool, where there are beautiful water fountains. There is the grave of Mahatma Gandhi, which is always decorated with flowers and flam burns beside. There is written the last word of Mahatma Gandhi on his grave and the word is “Hey Ram”.
- There is also the grave of Javahar Lal Nehru in Shanti Van. There also come foreign tourists and they give homage to Gandhi Jee.

Fact about Rajghat
It is located on the bank of the Yamuna River on Mahatma Gandhi Road. It is surrounded by well-kept lawns and trees. This is the resting place of Mahatma Gandhi and there is buried his ashes. The Rajghat is popular in local and foreign countries. It is a lovely place as it includes a big lake, a seating area, flowers, trees and lots of space for walking and running. There are written thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi which inspire people very a lot and change people’s views.
Opening time of Rajghat
It is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 P.m. And on Eid festival, there can be a difference in duration. There are no fees for entry.
Top tourist place near Rajghat
- National Gandhi Museum: it is just beside Rajghat. It presents the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. After his death, Gandhi’s things were conserved. This museum was established in 1961 formally. That time’s president Rajendra Prasad inaugurated it.
- Red Fort: It is just ahead of Jajghat. It is built by Shahjahan on 12 May 1639. At the same time,e he shifted his capital from Agra to Delhi. It is built with red sandstone and there is a very beautiful monument garden pool, fountains and a flower garden. As well as there is a museum also.
- Jama Masjid: It is the largest Mosque in the world the Jama word came from Friday, weekday jumma. And it was named Jama Masjid. It was also built by Shahjahan and it is better than the Taj Mahal because Shahjahan had dreamed of making the highest and the most beautiful mosque than his Mahal.
