Introduction:
Shri Digambar Jain Lal Mandir is on Neta Jee Shubhash Marg, Chandni Chowk opposite Red Fort. The temple is red and has a white outline on the roof and the edge of a balcony. This temple is dedicated to the Jain religion.
It is the oldest Jain mandir in Old Delhi. It was built in 1656. Temples are the center of the piece. It is also known as Lal Mandir. There are big trees except it there is a bird hospital just beside the temple and it is free.
History of Digambar Jain Lal Temple:
The Mughal Emperor Shahjahan was permitted to build this temple. Parshav was the main God of the temple. Before there were included three idols of sangmarmar. It was under the supervision of a Jain Officer.
The Mahaveer temple is the most important in the temple. Mahaveer was the 24th pilgrim.
There is a story about a Jain person of a Mughal soldier who has established an idol of a pilgrim in his tent. It attracted other Jain people and after that, a Jain temple was built in 1656 in that place.
At that time temples were called Urdu Mandir and Lashkari Mandir.
- Balbadhra Jain has described many legends about the temple one legend is that Aurangzeb the son of Shahjahan banned all musical instruments in the temple. Even then music was played in the temple. To watch miracles Aurangzeb did a tour of the temple and removed all restrictions.
- The building of the temple was built after fall of the Mughal Empire. Balbhadra Jain said that there was one idol which is from 1491.
Feature of Digambar Jain Lal Temple:
- This is a red temple and it is made with sandstone. There is also a model of a temple.
- It has a beautiful ceiling. There is a big flower on its ceiling. There you get so many idols of Jain gods.
- There is the chandelier in the temple and on the outside courtyard, there are thin fringes all around. Just beside the temple, there is a bird hospital also and there is a cured bird for free.
- If you see any injured bird you can take that here. Bird is not returned here it is blown away.
- There are also beautiful structures outside the temple there is a picture of God.
The architecture of Digambar Jain Lal temple:
It is made of red sandstone. It has beautiful pillars and there is also a courtyard which is covered with pillars. The first floor is the main worship place. There are so many idols of god the idol of Mahaveer is the man he is the last Pilgrim.
- The temple has also idols of Rishabnath and Parshavnath. Rishabhnath was the first Pilgrim.
This is a very peaceful place for prayer. They have done journalism and craving in the previous room. When there is burn, gave and paintwork, the temple creates peace. There is also a library where books related to the Jain religion
Entry fees and timing of Digambar Jain Lal Temple:
It opens from 5:30 Am to 11:30 Am and 6 pm to 9:30 pm.
Holi and Diwali its timing is 6 Am to 12 Pm and 5:30 Pm to 9 Pm. There is no entry Fees.
